Moodboarder is a set of InDesign templates created to arrange visual inspiration. Moodboarder has four master templates arranged in a grid layout variations to fit an A4 page.

To use Moodboarder, drag and drop the master template files onto the pages work flow and either ctrl+shift+click or cmd+shift+click  and drag a selection square over the A4 page. To insert image you the ‘paste in place’ shortcut or rightclick > past in place.

*slight update now there’s 5 master templates and available as an .indt file!

Marketing Mag: Sex Issue Flash Advert

Managing Editor of Marketing Mag, Sean Greaney approached me to create a flash banner ad for the Sex Issue. The brief was to create a striking online flash ad that used elements of the supplied cover art. The cover art was a suggestive stock image stock image of a man and woman with ‘XXX’ written in a free to use font. The adaptation created for the online ad used the ‘XXX’ in applied a neon sign aesthetic. The resulting and approved ad is as follows. Unfortunately the Ad was never placed as the media spot on the Marketing Mag website was sold to another vendor.

Momoberlin an emerging salon in West End was after a dynamic website to cement their online prescence. After opting for a flash based site uomoberlin.com.au was developed. The site is image driven with interactive menues that convey information in a simple and easy to read format. Student Flights :Get Lost Be Found Campaign

The Student Flights campaign crafted for the advertising capstone unit at QUT presented the Big Idea that travel is both a high involvement process and journey of self discovery, and isn’t a message that can be sold by competitive prices and deals alone.

The Big Idea  and premise for the campaign was synthesised into one simple message, To travel is to ‘Get Lost, be found’ .

The campaign consisted of five key deliverables which were an ambient installation, online app, subsidary website and print and online advertising. The full strategy can be viewed in the creative pitch document below.

Mockups created for the campaign paired the idea of getting lost within an ambiguous map or location and being found specifically within a niche area. The mockups drew on aspirational visuals depicting young travelers appearing to ‘be found’ in foreign locations. These mockups were specifically for print and online with other campaign deliverables available here.

Resplendid Nouveau is my first attempt at creating a clean modern typeface with art nouveau references.  The typeface also has two  additional variants in light and ultralight which act as the base structure of the typeface.

The final assessment for Copywriting101 was to create a campaign for Variety, a charity promoting its latest donation drive to office workers. The drive involved registered users who tracked their steps daily via a pedometer and uploaded the results individually or as part of a syndicate to encourage donations.

The campaign was crafted to position the target audience as ‘everyday heroes’ . The visuals represented imagery of office workers as seen through the eyes of the children the donations would go towards helping, albeit with ‘enhanced’ super hero paraphernalia drawn on with crayon.

The campaign was created as a group assignment and my role was creative and art direction and to prompt the copywriters.

The Institution

The Institution is a game concept that combines classic Grand Theft Auto mechanics with real world and real time consequences. The purpose was to concept an open world environment where players control an avatar able to commit a number of offenses. The player’s actions consequently effect the avatar and the player, and for every offense the resulting penalty exists in the game but in a real time perspective; ie a 25 year jail sentence will take an actual 25 years to complete. Whenever the player returns to the game his avatar will be under the control of  ”The Institution” and reflect any environmental changes produced by the game.

The AU Energy Interactive was an exercise in presenting raw data through an interactive interface. The implementation also provided an opportunity to style and animate info graphics. The following video is a snapshot of AU Energy Interactive in use.

The AU Energy Interactive was designed to be featured on large touch screen monitors at conferences and energy summits, with the current version as a usable prototype. The design allows for comparative data viewing of energy projections and also provides a comprehensive glossary of the associated terminology.  However the limitations of the data  visualisations became apparent when the scale of the figures restricted onscreen visual changes.

Justice Rebellion

Justice Rebellion was a startup not  for profit organisation concept birthed by Jerry Kato. The idea was to provide a platform to bridge the gap between charities and potential volunteers. To spread the idea I was approached to create a pitch document, and also went a step further and developed a short introductory video.

The direction for this video was to speak honestly about Jerry’s passion, and was later edited into a cohesive narrative. The video was shot around location amongst a backdrop of decrepit inner city buildings. Camera and sound recordings was by James Galea with the Bloc Party instrumental backing track a tongue in cheek nod at Jerry’s obvious Kele resemblance.

Octane was the youth ministry for highschool students run by Garden City Christian Church (now known as Hillsong Brisbane). Occasionally I designed print flyers for camps and events. The following DL flyer was a mail out containing the semester’s program and brief information about the organisation. Despite the youth orientated visuals, the flyer was designed to also appeal to parents.

United was the young adults ministry run by Garden City Christian Church (now known as Hillsong Brisbane). Over a 2 year period I volunteered creative services designing media for weekly and milestone events.  The following designs were created very early in my career and learning, but helped define my path as a designer.

After a series of discussions I pushed for a major redesign of the United identity to bring it further into the scope of its target audiences. In addition to new logos and designs an interactive program was developed using flash and after effects. The multimedia program consists of a video introduction from youth pastor James Turner as well as various sermons recorded over the course of the year, and an interactive list of the year’s events. After a series of discussions I pushed for a major redesign of the United identity to bring it further into the scope of its target audiences. In addition to a clean typeface logo, a distinct visual style was created and employed throughout various poster, email invite, motion graphic and interactive designs.
